Who we are

Small sofa – compact in size, big on the coziness factor

Not every household needs a corner sofa. And not every apartment has 25 square meters of living room space that can accommodate a 3-seater corner sofa. If you live in a city apartment, are furnishing a teenager's room, want to furnish a home office, or simply don't have space for a large piece of furniture, you need a small couch – one that, despite its compact dimensions, doesn't look spartan but is genuinely comfortable.

Our "small couch" category starts at 160 cm wide and goes up to around 190 cm. Anything smaller falls into the loveseat or bench category, while anything larger falls into the 2.5- and 3-seater category. The range may sound small, but it is crucial: every centimeter counts when you are planning a 12 m² room. Whether you choose a 165 cm or 185 cm couch makes a noticeable difference in terms of walkways and the feel of the room.

What you should pay particular attention to with a small couch: don't compromise on seating quality. Many affordable compact couches come with inferior padding and narrow seats – small then also means cheap and uncomfortable, which ruins the couch experience. Our small couches have full cold foam padding, at least 55 cm of seat depth, and high backrests that allow you to lean back properly. For us, small means compact in terms of external dimensions, not seating comfort.

Second important point: portability. A small couch often moves with you – to a shared flat, to your first own apartment, to the home office of your new job. Our models can therefore be transported either completely or in two parts and fit through standard doors. Screw-in legs and removable armrests are standard on many models.

Our range of small couches covers several shapes: narrow 2-seaters for classic living room alcoves, compact L-shapes for small living rooms with a corner, lounge sofas for reading or home office use, and sofa beds for guest rooms or shared flat rooms. For the upholstery, we recommend particularly easy-care fabrics for small couches – since a compact piece of furniture is usually used more intensively than a large one (you sit on it more often per square meter of seating area), durability is important.

In terms of price, small couches start at €499 for solid entry-level models and go up to around €1,400 for premium compact models with high-quality padding and a designer look. The lower price segment is significantly more attractive for small couches than for large ones – you get a good piece of furniture that lasts a long time for relatively little money.

For which rooms is a small couch ideal?

City apartment living rooms (10–14 m²): A small couch is often the only practical option here – larger sofas visually overwhelm the room.

Teenager and youth rooms: As a chill zone for gaming, reading, and receiving friends.

Home office: Many people want a comfortable second seating option in the study for breaks, video calls, or a short nap in between – a small couch is ideal here.

Guest or utility rooms: In the former guest room that is now a hobby room, or in the conservatory, where a full-sized sofa would be oversized.

Shared flat rooms: In more spacious shared flat rooms as a personal seating area in addition to the desk and bed.

OUR STORY

Over 20 years ago, it all began with a school internship at a furniture store. At the age of 12, I stood among sofas, fabrics, and upholstery for the first time — and was instantly captivated.

I never left the furniture industry. I worked in the warehouse, sold in sales, and learned in purchasing what really matters when it comes to quality. These years taught me more than any textbook ever could — about materials, about people, and about what makes a truly good furniture purchase.

All this experience, combined with genuine passion and the desire for a more honest, personal furniture shopping experience, eventually led to the creation of PolsterOase. A company that provides the kind of advice I would want myself — honest, expert, and with a real sense of what suits you and your home.

Yours, Martin Dziukiewicz
